Guards At Pam Labor Depts Found Involved In Bribery
Some security guards assigned in the labor departments under the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) have been found to be involved in bribery by allowing the entry of individuals without appointment in exchange for some cash, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources. This came after the daily repeatedly raised the issue of the so-called ‘appointment thieves’ who allow individuals to enter public institutions even without booking an appointment.
According to the sources, these security guards charge KD1 for every individual who wants to enter public institutions even if they have no appointment. Sources said PAM received complaints through its social media platforms about these security guards who are under the contracts of private companies and are working in labor departments. Sources confirmed the concerned department has started investigating the complaints and the necessary action will be taken against those who will be proven to be involved in such unscrupulous acts.
Sources added the authority has activated the online services in labor departments through the ‘Ashal’ application, including the cancellation or transfer of residency permits and other services. Sources said citizens and expatriates can visit the labor departments only if they booked an appointment as part of the authority’s commitment to strictly implement health measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
These facts were unveiled following the daily’s publication of reports about the illegal acts of security guards assigned in the ministries of foreign affairs and interior, especially in the attestation units at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
