Field Campaign Targets Waterfronts ‘seating’
The Director of Hygiene and Road Works Department in the Hawalli Municipality Branch, Muhammad Al-Jaba’a, revealed a new mechanism to monitor what he called the ‘outdoor seating’ the phenomenon which has spread along the coastal strip, especially that the rental and reservation process is now done electronically and by the hour.
He announced the start of an intensive field campaign starting from today, Sunday, to prevent the spread of this phenomenon along the waterfronts.
Al-Jaba’a told Al-Rai, “the Municipality administration will not be satisfied with removing and confiscating the assets and objects, but will refer the owners of those who violate the laws (outside seating) to the district police station, in addition to imposing a fine of 100 dinars, and seized assets will not be released until the violation fee is paid.”
He added, “using seats for personal use is not prohibited, but if they are rented to the public is considered an infringement on state property.” He noted “in many cases, renting is done and paid online and in this case the violator will be identified and punished.
