European Parliament Chair And Parliament Speaker Discuss Schengen Visa Exemption
Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and his delegation met with Roberta Metsola, the chairperson of the European Parliament, on Friday. "Al-Dustoor" news network, official tongue of Kuwaiti parliament, said Kuwaiti citizens had been exempted from the Schengen visa requirement in a statement.
Besides noting that there would be a vote on the exemption in the European Parliament later on, it indicated that some progress had been made in this area.
Both sides talked about other topics, including women empowerment and Kuwait's foreign policy in a wide variety of areas. Kuwaiti representatives answered some questions regarding Schengen, and they discussed other topics as well.
According to "Al-Dustoor", Europeans praised Kuwait's moderate foreign policy and its positive role in promoting international and regional peace.
Undersecretary of the parliamentary caucus, MP Obaid Al-Mutairi, caucus secretary, MP Hamad Al-Matar, and ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Ambassador Jassem Al-Bedaiwi, head of Kuwait's mission to the European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) participated in the meeting.
A delegation of legislators led by Al-Ghanim is in Brussels meeting with counterparts from the European Union (EU) to work out an agreement that would allow Kuwaitis to enter Schengen countries without a visa.
