Elderly Woman Averts Theft
On Thursday evening, the Public Prosecution in Qaliubiya province in Egypt has ordered the detention of an Egyptian gardener for four days pending investigation, following his confession after the arrest that he was planning to rob an elderly Kuwaiti woman living in Egypt, reports Al-Rai daily.
Egyptian security sources reported that a Police Station (50 kms east of Cairo) received the complaint from the 63-year-old woman, identifi ed only as Suad, that her 26-year-old former gardener who is now unemployed, had managed to sneak and hide in her bedroom. She added, the man was armed with a dagger and threatened to kill her if she did not give him money.
The woman then screamed for help and the guard managed to wrestle the man to the ground who had stolen $14 and KD 3 from the woman. During interrogation the thief said he was only planning to rob the woman and did not want to harm her.
Meanwhile, a bedoun who broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Jahra has been admitted to the area hospital with serious life threatening injuries, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the Kuwaiti felt strange movements in his home and saw the intruder but failed to catch him. The suspect in a vain attempt to escape jumped from the fi rst fl oor window. He is receiving treatment under police guard. It is believed he is a former criminal.
