Effective Measures To Combat Commodity Shortages In Kuwait
In order to protect Kuwait from the dangers of commodity shortages and price hikes, the State of Kuwait has stated its priority is food security.
"The measures taken to ensure the safety of Kuwait's consumers in the short-and mid-term and the protection of Kuwait's economy from global fluctuations in the long-term are the measures being taken," he explained, noting among others in this regard "an increase of 50 percent in the share of ration chickens per capita, and an increase in the price for supplying companies by 10 percent through the Ministry of Commerce without burdening the citizens.".
There is a challenge here because the storage network is weak, and there is a lack of storage facilities that restrict traders from absorbing enough quantities for longer than three months, and the source noted, "Their stores are full, their shelves are empty, but what matters is providing and securing after three months."
It was revealed that Kuwait is working on a strategy to ensure food, drug and construction security, aiming to control influential shares in numerous international institutions, corporations, and factories, thereby ensuring safety and ensuring the stability of food, medicine, and construction material supplies, and preventing shortages of food, medicine, and construction materials in the face of global market fluctuations and competition between nations for goods.
As a result, the Ministry of Commerce has maintained food stocks and secured goods without compromising the welfare of citizens and has so far proven successful in eliminating the effects of high prices or commodities interruptions caused by global market changes."
Kuwaiti products of all kinds will be required to be sold to the Union of Cooperative Societies, according to the source.
