Covid-19 Students Begin Their Tests On Sunday
Kuwaiti media have reported that COVID-19-affected students are now scheduled to take their exams next Sunday, after schools reopen in the country one week after they were closed.
Al Jarida added that these students will be taking their exams on Sunday at intermediate and secondary schools.
A directive has been sent to schools informing them to provide special rooms for students with health problems so that they can use them for exams.
It was reported in a newspaper report that the Education Ministry is still examining the possibility of restoring full capacity to schools as a means to replace the current system which divides attendance between two groups, according to sources at the ministry.
The sources said the administration has held several meetings about this matter, and that it expects to make a decision related to it next week. Since last October, Kuwait has been operating a rotating class system to prevent COVID-19 spreading.
The second semester of classes in Kuwait started on Sunday after the mid-year holidays ended.
A coronavirus-detecting PCR test result is required for unvaccinated teachers and students above 16 years old.
It was originally planned that Kuwait's second semester would begin on February 13. Nevertheless, the Education Ministry decided to postpone it to March 6 in order to observe Independence Day, the Liberation Day, and Prophet Mohammed's night journey (Israa Wal Miraj).
Children under 16 have already been exempted from this requirement.
Kuwait lifted the majority of its anti-coronavirus restrictions and relaxed travel restrictions last month as infection rates declined significantly.
In these instances, unvaccinated individuals need only produce a negative PCR result to enter malls, cinemas, and theatres.
According to health regulations, social gatherings are also permitted indoors and outdoors, as well as using public transportation at full capacity. In mosques, physical separation is no longer required.
