Court Rules In Favor Of Masseuse

The Summary Proceedings Circuit at the Court of First Instance ordered a famous health institute to hand over the passport of a woman it employed as a masseuse. Lawyer Khawlah Al-Hassawi representing the woman explained in court that her client works as masseuse in the aforementioned health institute that took possession of her passport and refused to return it. She said her client had no other option than seek legal redress after all entreaties for the defendant to do the needful proved futile. The court agreed that the institute did not have any legal ground to keep the passport of its staff, and the act is tantamount to curtailing the rights of the plaintiff.

Woman seeks protection: Through Al-Anba daily, a young Kuwaiti woman asked senior officials at the Interior Ministry to protect her from being hurt and scandalized by a compatriot who has been blackmailing her. The woman disclosed she befriended a young man who promised to marry her, then he convinced her to lend him money (KD3,000) to overcome his financial difficulties and she did. The woman added she noticed that the boyfriend started avoiding her and he did not take her phone calls, so she reported the matter to police but requested them not to register the complaint in order to protect her reputation
