Court Ordered A School To Pay Kd 20,000 For Neglecting Child Student
The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which ordered a school to pay compensation worth KD 20,000 to a Kuwaiti citizen for the mental and material damages he sustained due to a hit-and-run accident involving his son within the school premises.
According to the case file, the plaintiff, representing interest of his son, filed a lawsuit against the school demanding compensation for the knocking down of his son within the school premises while the motorist did not attempt to rescue the boy.
The plaintiff counsel Lawyer Talal Al-Mutairi revealed that the sevenyear- old boy went out of the school after the closing hour to board the school bus without any care or supervision by the officials.
He explained that his client held the school responsible because it was the responsibility of teachers to ensure the safety of underage pupils. The injuries sustained by the child were mainly on the head, which caused the family severe mental and material damages.
