Court Acquitted The Presenter Of A Sports Program On A Tv Channel

The Criminal Court acquitted the presenter, producer and guests of a sports program on a TV channel of charges of offending the Secretary General of Kuwait Football Association. According to the case file, the Public Prosecution had charged the first, second and third defendants of broadcasting a sports program that broadcasted false statements and fake events which offended the plaintiff, the Secretary General of Kuwait Football Association. The sports program was prepared and presented by the first defendant and directed by the second defendant. The third defendant is the owner of the TV channel and the fourth defendant had agreed with the defendants to broadcast the program on that TV channel. During the court session, the defense counsel of the fourth defendant Lawyer Ina’am Haidar highlighted the lack of material or moral crime, stressing that her client has been denying the allegations since the start of the investigations. She insisted that the case file does not contain any evidences in support of the allegations, affirming that his statement was issued based on the freedom of sports criticism, which is guaranteed and legal. She added that his statement did not contain any insults or threats.
