Congestion At Nuwaiseeb, Salmi Caused By A Shutdown In Electronic Systems
People moved slowly for more than three hours as a result of a system error at the Ministry of Interior, especially at the departures section at Nuwaiseeb and Salmi ports.
According to a local Arabic newspaper, the defect occurred during Thursday's departure and arrival at the end of working hours. The Ministry of Interior apologized to citizens for the delay and corrected the malfunction in the system after about three and a half hours.
The security experts told the daily "there was no known cause for the technical malfunction that affected the system, and the integrators played a major role in resolving the issue.".
As reported by the sources, "most travelers waited in front of the passport gates rather than returning."
According to the sources, airport security outfit use special query programs to check passengers, manually enter their data, and stamp their passports after ensuring they will not be subject to travel bans, so that they don't interfer with airport activities.
Residents and traffic affairs officials explained they had no choice but to ask visitors to come back on Sunday to finish their transactions.
