Cell Stolen In Salmiya
A Lebanese man lodged a complaint with officers at Salmiya police station against a yet-to-be identified person who physically attacked him and his son before fleeing the scene with a stolen mobile.
A security source said the suspect threatened him and his son at knife point while they were trekking in Salmiya area and stole his mobile phone. At that point, the boy shouted for help by crying out “thief, thief …”, so the suspect descended on him and continued hitting him until he fell before fleeing the scene. A case was registered.
In a similar incident, a person impersonated a security operative in Maidan Hawalli and robbed an Egyptian food vendor on his way to deliver an order. Apparently, the suspect parked his jeep and ordered the victim to pull up for verification of status, so the victim brought out his wallet to show his civil ID card but he snatched the wallet and the victim reported to Maidan Hawalli police station.
Upon arrival at the station, it dawned on the victim that the man was a fake detective. The police have registered a case for investigation.
Meanwhile, an unknown person physically attacked a Sri Lankan woman and dispossessed her of a bag while she was standing by the roadside and waiting for a public bus.
