Ceiling Of Under Construction Mosque Collapses, 4 Workers Injured
Four Egyptian construction workers sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies when the ceiling of an under construction mosque in Qairuwan collapsed. Firefighters from Sulaibikhat Fire Station and a rescue team rushed to the location after the Operations Unit at Kuwait Fire Service Directorate received information on the incident.
They pulled several construction workers out of the rubble and four of these workers suffered injuries so they were taken to Farwaniya Hospital. Investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collapse of the ceiling.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs as saying that it has yet to receive the mosque which is still under construction owing to the donation of a benevolent worshipper while the construction process is under the supervision of an architectural firm.
Director of Media Department and official spokesperson of the ministry Ahmad Al-Qurawi affirmed they are closely following up the issue, particularly the efforts to determine reasons behind the collapse of the ceiling.
He added the Engineering Affairs Department has been instructed to prepare a detailed report on the incident in a bid to identify causes of the collapse. He also wished the four injured workers speedy recovery.
