Call To Hike Electricity And Water Tariffs For Expats

Technical team recommended the government to increase electricity and water tariffs with the start of the new financial year in April next year, reports Kuwait Times.

“Since expats are considered the largest consumers, being twice the population of Kuwaiti nationals, they should not pay 10 times less for utilities,” quoting sources, local daily Kuwait Times reported.

The recommendation aims to increase tariffs by 50-100 percent, while prices for citizens will remain the same for their first house.
