Azerbaijan's Ambassador Highlights Strong Kuwaiti-Azerbaijani Relations And Trade Prospects

Emil Karimov, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Kuwait, lauded the robust and close ties between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the significant increase in Kuwaiti tourist visits to Azerbaijan, which reached 30,000 last year. His remarks came during a press statement at an iftar banquet hosted in honor of journalists at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Karimov expressed the commitment to enhance cooperation across various sectors between the two nations, noting that while the trade volume reached $650,000 last year, efforts are underway to elevate it to meet the desired level. He highlighted the presence of Azerbaijani food products in Kuwaiti markets, indicating potential for further economic collaboration.

The ambassador outlined plans to boost tourism in Azerbaijan, aiming to attract 100,000 tourists annually. He announced the upcoming third session of the joint committee between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, focusing on enhancing cooperation frameworks across all sectors.

Karimov also discussed Azerbaijan's interest in leveraging Kuwait's expertise in mine clearance, particularly in the liberated Karabakh region. He emphasized the necessity of accurate information regarding mined areas and invited investment in Azerbaijan, particularly in liberated zones, which requires establishing an investment company.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan is preparing to host COP 29 to address global climate change challenges. Karimov reiterated Azerbaijan's support for peace efforts in Gaza, highlighting the establishment of a representative office in Ramallah to underscore its solidarity with the Palestinian Authority.

Expressing his eagerness to engage with Kuwaiti society, Karimov emphasized the significance of traditional diwaniyas and Ramadan gatherings in fostering community bonds. He praised Kuwait's unique cultural heritage, citing diwaniyas as emblematic of Kuwaiti societal cohesion.
