An Indian Ambassador Highlights Kuwait-India Cooperation Pledges

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait on Monday evening celebrated 'Republic Day’ to mark the 75 years since introducing the Indian constitution.

In his address to the distinguished guests from Kuwait, colleagues from the Diplomatic Corps and members of the media fraternity, Ambassador HE Dr Adarsh Swaika, expressed his gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister, Dr. Muhammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, for their unwavering support in fostering the robust India-Kuwait partnership.

“The diamond jubilee of our Republic Day,” he said, “is a historic milestone since the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950 which encapsulates the principles of equitable development, democracy, pluralism, and secularism, reflecting the core values of our nation. Unity in diversity is ingrained in our traditional ethos, making our constitution a living document that responds to the evolving needs of time, a source of pride for all Indian citizens worldwide.”

He went on to say, India’s recent developmental strides have garnered international attention and in this area highlighted key facets — largest and stable democratic regime; world’s most populous country, with 65% of the population under 35; 5th largest economy, poised to become the 3rd by 2027-28; DP of USD 3.75 trillion, with USD 776 billion in exports last year; preferred foreign investment destination, attracting USD 615 billion in the last 9 years; jumped 79 positions in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings in 5 years; boasts the world’s largest working population and lowest manufacturing costs; 3rd largest startup ecosystem with 111 unicorns valued at USD 350 billion; global pharmacy hub, 4th largest installed capacity of renewable power; aiming for a USD 1 trillion digital economy by 2025; looking ahead to India@2047, our vision includes a USD 32 trillion economy, the world’s 3rd largest, with an average annual real GDP growth of 7.6% and a per capita income growing nine-fold to approximately USD 22,000.

“Our bilateral ties with Kuwait are historical and robust, with trade and people-to-people connections forming the foundation. We value the leadership’s commitment to this relationship, witnessing diversification in our trade and growing investment cooperation. The strong Indian community in Kuwait, around one million strong, acts as a vital bridge between our nations, contributing significantly to our special partnership,” he added.

The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in elevating India-Kuwait relations.
