An Egyptian Man Strangles His Sister To Death While Preparing Iftar

A man in Egypt was arrested for strangling his sister to death as she prepared their Iftar meal to break their fast, according to local media reports.

The suspect was a mentally ill individual, and he admitted to killing his sister for an unspecified reason, according to the Al Sharq newspaper.

In a country with over 100 million inhabitants, there is hardly a day that passes without local media covering a grisly crime, resulting in fears of an increase in violence.

In his office last week, a journalist of the state-run Al Ahram newspaper killed himself.

Emad Al Fekky, a journalist with the famous Al Ahram newspaper in Cairo, committed suicide by hanging himself on Thursday morning at his office at the newspaper's headquarters.
