About 100 Landlines In Maidan Hawally Area Out Of Order Since Last November
A number of residents of Maidan Hawally area submitted complaints about the disruption of landline telephone services since last November, which has in turn led to the disruption of work in some health centers located in Block 11 along Abdullah Al- Fadhala Street.
In their complaint sent to the daily, the residents of Maidan Hawally area said they contacted the Ministry of Communications in pursuit for quick solutions, stressing that the disconnection of landlines has disrupted procedures for patients and their families who visit these medical centers.
According to an official source, the concerned department in the ministry took immediate action upon receiving complaints. The reason behind the landline interruption was due to the failure of one of the underground cables that feed the telephone lines under one of the streets.
The ministry has addressed the Ministry of Public Works to seek necessary approvals for fixing the problem; however, no response has been received in this regard. He said, “We cannot dig the street and repair the cable or put new ones without the approval of the Ministry of Public Works. We are ready to repair the underground cable as soon as the approvals are received, especially since the number of disconnected telephone lines along Abdullah Al-Fadhala Street is about 100.”
In addition, the source said, “Since the start of the curfew and isolation orders imposed on Mahboula area, some companies in contract with the Ministry of Communications have not been able to repair the telephone network due to the fact that their workers live in areas that are isolated”.
