9 News Websites Investigated For Spreading Fake News

Ministry of Interior’s Cyber crime department has been working to reduce spreading of rumors and publishing of fake news on websites and social media as the country fights against the coronavirus spread. The criminal security department found nine news websites were caught disseminating fake news and rumors, and cases were registered against the owners of the websites.

The Department of Cyber Crime monitors all news items published on social media and anyone caught spreading rumors or fake news, is subject to legal action in coordination with the Ministry of Information and the competent authorities.

The administration calls upon everyone to be cautious and alert to what is mentioned on social media and readers have to visit official news websites approved by the government for reliable information.
