870 New Surveillance Cameras To Be Installed At Kia

27 February 2021 Kuwait

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is working in full swing to install 870 new surveillance cameras at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) and replace the old system with a new and advanced one to include different types of modern cameras, including for the first time facial recognition cameras for security reasons at KIA, Al Anba reported.

It stated that these cameras are distributed on all buildings at KIA, including the T4 and T5 buildings.

DGCA will also build an advanced control room with giant screens and 20 surveillance TV screens, and a giant video wall of 4 meters by 2 meters, where there will be about 9 operators and a supervisor in the room.

The modern cameras have tracking features based on artificial intelligence for people and cars, and about 5 cameras will be installed to identify car plate numbers, as well as fire, smoke, and movement detection features.

The installation process is extended for two weeks to give companies a favourable opportunity to provide tenders for the project.
