The Ahmadi police have arrested an unidentified 30-year-old Kuwaiti who had been sentenced earlier to five years imprisonment for possessing drugs, 11 unlicensed guns and ammunition, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources, the suspect was using stolen cars to commit thefts or was deliberately colliding with the vehicles of expatriates and blackmailing them to make them appear it was their fault and taking money for repairs.
Following theft complaints filed by several motorists and pedestrians in the Jahra governorate, police put the area under surveillance and finally took the man in custody from Al-Zahra area.
During interrogation he admitted to the charge and said he stole the cars of motorists who left the engine working and stepped into shops to buy something. He also told police he committed 30 misdemeanors and seven criminal offences and guided police to four stolen cars.
