20,352 Traffic Violations And 1,770 Accidents In One Week; 14 Juveniles Caught Driving
The General Traffic Department in the Ministry of Interior has announced that its operation units dealt with 1,770 traffic accidents from March 15-22; indicating 276 accidents caused injuries while 1,494 accidents did not lead to injuries, reports Al-Anba daily. The statistics showed that the campaigns carried out within the above-mentioned week, under the supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Yousef Al-Khadda resulted in the referral of 55 individuals to the traffic police for committing serious violations.
They were released after the issuance of citations for their violations. Also, 14 juveniles were arrested for driving their parents’ vehicles without a license. They were referred to the juvenile prosecution. A total of 22 persons wanted by law were arrested as well and they were referred to the competent authorities. In addition, 20,352 citations were issued for various traffic violations; while 138 vehicles and bicycles were impounded. These violations include non-compliance with security, safety and shading regulations.
