178,000 Iraqis Displaced From Mosul
At least 178,000 Iraqis have been displaced so far from Mosul and placed in displacement camps, Ministry of Migration and Displacement said Friday, adding some 21,000 others returned back to their liberated areas.
The ministry has capacity to accommodate double the number living in the displacement camps, Minister Jassem Al-Jaff said during a tour to the camps hosting internally displaced persons.
The tour aimed to be briefed on conditions of the displaced so as to meet their needs in an attempt to alleviate their suffering, he added.
He stressed that the ministry, in collaboration with some security bodies, continues to evacuate internally displaced persons from their neighborhoods to such camps.
It also works on ensuring families while returning back to their liberated areas, he noted. Some 428 people on Friday left their neighborhoods and were received in Al-Khazer displacement camp in eastern Mosul, he made clear.
