The Misdemeanors Circle of the Court of First Instance, headed by Counselor Nawaf Al-Zua’bi, put behind bars Saoud A-Fadhli and his son for eight months each in a libel suit filed by former minister of health Ali Al-Obeidi on his e-account which he operates under the name ‘Sheikh’, reports Al-Rai daily.

The judge also ordered Al-Fadhli to pay KD 1,000 each to suspend the sentence. The court also referred the case to the competent civil court. According to the ruling, the Public Prosecutor’s Office accused Al-Fadhli and his son Abdulaziz of tarnishing the image and reputation of Dr Ali Al-Obeidi on their electronic account between Feb 24, 2016 and Sept 23, 2017. Investigations conducted by the Cyber Crime Department proved the account was operated by the father and son duo to abuse the former health minister.
