Work Rules For Noontime Were Violated
Reports Al- Jarida daily state that the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety in the Public Authority for Manpower monitored a number of violations at the new maternity hospital in the Al-Sabah Medical District.
Hamad Al-Makhial, the head of the noon work team, said the team inspected the hospital, Wednesday, in order to ensure the extent to which business owners applied the decision to ban workers at noon, in order to protect the health and safety of all workers due to the scorching heat. As explained by him, the team begins by giving the worker a citation instructing him to "respect the law prohibiting working under direct sun light between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm" and handing it to the employer as a warning. A large number of companies cooperate with the team to prevent workers from working in the open during the mentioned period, indicating that Kuwait's human rights conventions are being implemented through the team's work.
As reported by Al-Makhial, the team has visited 330 sites since the first of June, detecting 290 violations by companies. Due to the high temperatures, the ban on employment at noon in open workplaces begins from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the first of June until the end of August, in accordance with administrative decision 535 of 2015.
