Who Officials Meet With Kuwait's Health Minister
Kuwait's Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Al Saeed, was accompanied by senior officials of the Kuwaiti Health Ministry for a visit to the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office in Cairo, Egypt, where they met with Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, the Regional Director of WHO for the Eastern Mediterranean and senior WHO officials. Dr Assad Hafeez, WHO representative in Kuwait, presented details of the collaborations during the discussions.
Kuwait's collaboration with WHO is highly valued by Dr. Al Mandhari during his visit. It was an honor to meet with HE Dr Khaled Al Saeed, Minister of Health, to discuss how we can collaborate. Kuwait and WHO have made progress in translating our vision: health for all, by all, through key public health projects such as the healthy cities initiative."
On behalf of the delegation, Dr. Khaled Al Saeed noted today's visit to the WHO EMRO was very fruitful. In summary, both parties reiterated their strong commitment to strengthening global efforts to end the pandemic. In order to document successful experiences during COVID19 for the benefit of member states, we plan to work together closely with the Country & Regional Offices."
In addition, this partnership will make a strategic contribution toward strengthening national capacities, as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Kuwait will be established, the quality of research in health will be enhanced, and climate change will be tackled jointly, according to Dr. Al Saeed.
During the visit, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to work together to positively impact population health. In his remarks, Dr. Al Saeed praised the upcoming joint work on developing Kuwait's Country Cooperation Strategy, reporting that "the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health will be working with WHO to develop the Kuwaiti Country Cooperation Strategy based on the Kuwait national vision and global targets to meet health challenges of the future."
