Threatened Extinction Of The Steppe Eagle

10 May 2022 Kuwait

The Environment Public Authority has discovered the steppe eagle, which is one of Kuwait's most abundant eagles, and warns that "poaching is the largest threat to it locally."

The steppe is a giant raptor that feeds mostly on large corpses but also hunts small mammals, reptiles, and birds, as well as stealing food from other predators.

It is 75 centimetres long and has a wingspan of 175 to 210 centimetres. It lives in the steppes (grassland without trees) and semi-deserts, mostly in large semi-arid grassland and the bottoms of hills, bogs, and landfills.
