The Kuwait Municipality Launches A Camping Awareness Campaign

25 October 2023 Kuwait

In preparation for the upcoming camping season, which begins on November 15th and runs through March 15th, 2024, Kuwait Municipality launched an awareness campaign today, Wednesday. The campaign, titled “Your Camp, Nature’s Trust – Preserve It,” aims to educate both citizens and residents about authorized camping sites officially approved by the Committee for the Study and Renovation of Campsite Locations. In total, 15 camping areas are designated, eight in the northern regions and seven in the southern regions, with strict regulations prohibiting camping outside of these areas.

Mohammed Al-Mutairi, Director of Public Relations and official spokesperson for the municipality, says those seeking to camp should be familiar with the steps for reserving campsites and obtaining permits via QR codes on the official municipal website. To apply for a temporary permit, they are required to pay a fee of 50 Kuwaiti Dinars and submit a 100 Kuwaiti Dinars security deposit. The permit must be prominently displayed at the campsite.

The campaign also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean camping site, preserving the natural environment, and following camping regulations and guidelines through informative advertisements (outdoor and mobile) distributed throughout the streets of different governorates. Through a variety of visual, printed, and auditory media, the campaign also aims to educate citizens and residents.

According to Al-Mutairi, 183 advertisements were strategically placed across different governorates, including 17 in Al Jahra, 22 in Mubarak Al Kabeer, 24 in Al Farwaniya, 32 in Al Ahmadi, 42 in the capital, and 46 in Hawalli.
