Recruiting Offices For Domestic Workers Warned Not To Raise Fees
In response to the Public Authority for Manpower's request to raise the cost of hiring domestic workers from 890 dinars to 980 dinars, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry refused the request.
PAM's request was based on high travel costs and other expenses, but the ministry emphasized that the cost of recruitment through offices and recruitment companies should not exceed 890 dinars, including travel costs and examinations in the employee's home country.
The ministry stated that in the event of a violation of the decision, they would have to enforce the law against violators and prevent them from doing business, further noting that an organizing group had been formed for the purpose of receiving complaints in this regard.
Moreover, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is planning to launch a wide campaign against domestic workers recruitment offices. This campaign will target offices that do not abide by the ministerial decision to price domestic workers recruitment at 890, including travel tickets and medical exams.
