Private Sector To Have 'special Platform' To Deal With Residence Violators
It is estimated that tens of thousands of violators of the residence law are living in the country illegally. The Ministry of Interior and Public Authority for Manpower plan to establish a "platform" for addressing the issue.
A local Arabic media outlet reported that the deal was reached during a coordination meeting on Monday in which Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Jamal Al-Jalawi, Minister of Justice, and senior PAM officials discussed the private sector's violations as well as means of improving market quality.
According to the sources, the temporary project (a special platform) has been approved to address the conditions of residents in violation of residence rights only if they work in the private sector.
In addition, the sources indicated that "target groups include violators whose employers did not renew their residence or terminated their projects, as well as other categories that will be revealed after the study is complete," adding that "the platform will be open to all those whose status needs to be amended according to the decrees and laws in operation."
