Parliamentarians Push To Appoint Kuwaitis In Government Institutions Holding Fake Degrees

11 September 2019 Kuwait

There has been pressure from parliamentarians to appoint Kuwaitis in government institutions – Kuwaitis who hold dubious scientific and academic certificates and diplomas, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable ministerial sources.

According to educational observers such certificates and diplomas are bought from some institutes for between KD 800 and KD 1,200 – diplomas in mechanics, engineering, electricity, and some technical disciplines.

The same sources say the duration of a diploma is 9 months and students attend ‘classes’ only twice a week for only one hour for a lecture, and the duration of the diploma is one month of study only not 9 months.

After completion of the course the students receive a certificate which they exploit to get a government job. This deprives a number of graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum of the Kuwait University, in addition to graduates of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
