Mpw: Lack Of Budget Delays Launching Of Five Projects

29 January 2022 Kuwait

The Ministry of Public Works said there are several reasons behind not floating 5 construction projects despite the completion of the design work for some of them, foremost of which is non availability of budget, or changing the location of the projects and specifying another location, or because there are problems in the locations themselves.

Al-Jarida quoting the Ministry of Public Works sources said these projects were for the expansion contract for the main building of the Public Authority for Civil Information, whose design work has been completed but the budget to float the tender is not available, and the building of the Coordination Command for the back area, whose tender was not floated in 2016 due to lack of budget.

The sources pointed out the third contract is the ‘Correctional Institutions Complex’ whose plans and documents for the fourth phase were approved on Dec 19, 2020 but have yet to be submitted to the advisory office for licenses and tender documents.

The sources said the presence of a power station was the reason for the inability to receive the site boundaries to complete the required licenses, and after coordination with several parties, the station was removed, and procedures are now being completed and the required licenses renewed on time, in addition to coordination to complete the licensing procedures and the preparation of the required documents.

The last project, sources say, is of the General Administration of Information Systems building, and the beneficiary of the project requested to change its location, and approvals are being obtained based on the new location, following which the design will be sent for approval and then will be floated for bidding.
