Mosal Asks Bank To Take Legal Measures Against Account Holder

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economy Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh revealed that Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has asked Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior to take necessary legal measures against foreign charity organizations that call for collecting donations inside Kuwait without obtaining relevant license from the concerned authorities, reports Aljarida daily.

The ministry also asked a bank to take necessary legal measures against an account that belongs to an unidentified person who has been collecting donations from people and transferring to his personal account. In response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Saleh Ashour concerning violations committed during the month of Ramadan and other relevant issues, Minister Al-Sabeeh affirmed the existence of violations through collection of donations as cash. She explained that the concerned authorities in her ministry addressed relevant charitable organizations to take necessary legal actions against the perpetrators.

These charitable organizations managed to take legal actions against those who were proven to have collected donations in cash. Also, their identity cards were withdrawn and they were banned from being involved in charitable activities in the future. Concerning the question on advertisement of unlicensed projects, Al-Sabeeh said the advertisements discovered were related to “Iftaar saim” (feeding the one who is fasting). She stressed that the ministry addressed the organization in charge of the advertisement and warned it about its violation, adding that the response was positive. Al-Sabeeh added, “This applies to another foundation which had advertised a project without seeking approval of the ministry”.

The minister explained that ministry’s inspection teams registered 13 citations against six charitable organizations during the month of Ramadan. These violations were related to failure of representatives of these charitable organizations in adhering to the schedule issued by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for the collection of donations in mosques. The ministry warned such organizations to avoid such violations.
