Meshal Al-azmi Said Many Vendors In Kuwait Exploit The State Property Law
Director of Public Hygiene and Road Occupation Department of the Capital Municipality Meshal Al-Azmi said many vendors in Kuwait exploit the state property law because they conduct business without obtaining a license, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Azmi added legal action is taken action against the vendors. Once they are caught, they are referred to the Legal Affairs Department of the Kuwait Municipality, before handing them over to the Interrogations Department of the Ministry of Interior. Al-Azmi added, in case of arrest of a street vendor, there is no reconciliation and the minimum fine is KD 50.
The same is applicable to bedoun. In a related context, the Kuwait Municipality official revealed an integrated inspection plan has been developed to deal with street vendors during Ramadan. He added, inspection teams will be distributed in all governorates of Kuwait and they will be working in coordination with government agencies.
Al-Azmi stressed in such cases, the Municipality confiscates the goods and destroys them. As for the seizure of the vehicle, it is within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior because it is considered as a personal property, not a mobile grocery. He pointed out the procedures applied to the expatriate street vendors are different than those applied on the bedoun, especially since the Municipality also punishes the sponsors, the Public Authority for Manpower detains the violators, and the investigation department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor deports them after payment of fine.
Meanwhile, Head of Drug Importers and Pharmacies Union Faisal Al-Moajel revealed the formation of two joint committees between the union and Ministry of Health for discussing the contracting system, determining its conditions, and preparing a mechanism for the trade of medicines in Kuwait in terms of prices and registration, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He said this in a press statement issued after an ordinary meeting of the union at the headquarters of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) during which discussions were held on two financial and administrative reports. Al-Moajel stressed that they also discussed the new pharmacy law in light of the union’s latest meeting with the Parliament’s Health Committee in the presence of representatives of Kuwait Pharmacy Association and Ministry of Health.
