Meeting To Clarify Some Of The Issues Related To Residency Law
A senior security source revealed that Assistant Undersecretary for Residence Affairs Major-General Talal Ma’arafi has invited directors of residence affairs departments in the six governorates of Kuwait for a meeting at the Residence Affairs building in Dajeej to clarify some of the issues contained in the decision issued by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt-Gen Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah, regarding the executive regulation of the residence law, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a source, Major-General Ma’arafi will answer all the queries that will be posed by the directors of departments that will contribute to the implementation of the ministerial decision as stated in its provisions.
The source added that within the next few days all regulations and conditions mentioned in the resolution will be clarified.
The source added that the new decision is aimed at facilitating the procedures in the country and putting in place suitable conditions that can contribute to the revitalization of the economic, tourism and commercial situation that Kuwait is looking forward to.
The source added that the procedures of converting family and tourist visits to join the family Article 22, as well as enabling visiting students to obtain a residence under Article 17 (government) will reflect on the economic situation and meet the need of government agencies of rare specialties, as well as open the field for visits that extend for a year.
The resolution is also expected to benefit the businessmen from all over the world. The source explained that some of the conditions and controls on matters in the decision will be issued in subsequent clarifications, pointing out that under the opening of the transfer of visits became available for heads of families to be reunited provided that the expatriate meets the KD 500 salary cap.
The resolution also enables Kuwaiti consulates abroad to issue visits which will be part of Kuwait’s more openness to the world, an approach initiated by many countries in the world and the Gulf states recently.
The source pointed out that the ministerial decision closed the door to speculation about an increase in the residence fees for expatriates and also to rumors of imposing fees on all who visit the country, until further notice.
