A gang of visa traffickers was busted in Farwaniya area with several passports and ID cards of clients during an operation conducted upon instructions from Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarah, the Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport affairs.
The gang accused of operating a bogus company owned by a Kuwaiti citizen in Farwaniya area is said to have forged several entry visas for expatriates and charged KD 1800 for each service. They were also engaged in residency and visa transfer activities for special fees.
A statement indicated the Interior Ministry received a tip-off about a citizen with his squad mostly Egyptians, recruiting workers from Egypt and registering them under the bogus company without providing them jobs.
Based on the report, a team of detectives was formed to follow-up the case since victims of visa trading become stranded in the country and end up as marginal workers.Guarded by search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution, security officers raided the premises and discovered that the company was operating without license.
They also recovered 350 passports and ID cards belonging to Egyptians, in addition to forged seals, and took the employees into custody for necessary legal action. The Kuwaiti owner of the bogus company is still at large, but his details have been circulated to security checkpoints countrywide to facilitate his arrest.
Guns, bullets seized: A team of officers from the Weapons Inspection Department in the Interior Ministry confiscated 42,600 hunting rifle bullets (shozan), two shozan rifles, six other hunting guns, and a variety of ammunition and weapons from a number of stables in Ahmadi Governorate.
In a press statement, the department disclosed the surprise inspection campaign was made possible in cooperation with police patrol, emergency, traffic and stables units in the governorate.
This is considered the third phase of the unlicensed weapons collection campaign under the supervision of Director General of General Security for Weapons Inspection Department Brigadier Abdulrahman Al-Suhail.
