Kuwait's First Hindi Radio Broadcast Begins

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait proudly announced the commencement of the first-ever Hindi radio broadcast in Kuwait, a significant milestone in bilateral relations. This groundbreaking initiative, initiated by Kuwait's Ministry of Information, features a Hindi Programme on Kuwait Radio airing on FM 93.3 and AM 96.3 every Sunday.

Expressing gratitude, the Indian Embassy acknowledged Kuwait's Ministry of Information for this remarkable step, emphasizing its potential to reinforce the enduring bond between the two nations.

In an official statement shared on X, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait celebrated the launch, stating, "Start of first ever Hindi Radio broadcast in Kuwait! Embassy of India expresses appreciation to MOI for starting a Hindi programme on Kuwait Radio on FM 93.3 and AM 96.3 on every Sunday (8.30-9 pm) starting 21 April 2024, a step that will further strengthen India-Kuwait."

Highlighting the significant presence of the Indian community, which comprises approximately 1 million individuals, the Indian Embassy underscored its pivotal role in Kuwait's socio-economic landscape. The community encompasses professionals from various fields such as engineering, medicine, finance, IT, and more, alongside skilled workers and entrepreneurs.

Moreover, the Indian Business Community in Kuwait has made substantial contributions to the local market, particularly in retail and distributorship sectors. This symbiotic relationship between India and Kuwait is deeply rooted in history and continues to thrive, as affirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

India and Kuwait share a longstanding friendship, underscored by robust diplomatic ties and historical connections. Notably, India has been a crucial trading partner of Kuwait, with a rich history dating back to the era when the Indian rupee served as legal tender in Kuwait until 1961.

In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the year 2021-22 holds special significance. Furthermore, recent diplomatic engagements between India and Kuwait, such as the meeting between Indian ambassador Adarsh Swaika and Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, reaffirm the commitment to nurturing bilateral cooperation and addressing the needs of the expatriate community.
