Kuwaiti Skies Offer A View Of Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, And Mars

29 November 2022 Kuwait

Kuwait's Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center announced that four bright planets had appeared in the sky recently. A naked eye can see their brightness comparable to the brightness of stars, with a difference in glow. Among them are Jupiter and Saturn, giants of the solar system, as well as Venus and Mars.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Khaled Al-Jama'an said Venus can be seen with the naked eye immediately after sunset for half an hour, and Saturn at 10:18 in the evening. Jupiter is visible from sunset to 1:23 a.m., followed by Mars at 5:35 p.m. and disappears in the morning with sunrise.

According to Al-Jama'an, Mars, the second-smallest planet in the solar system, will become brighter in the sky next month. The composition of its rocks contains large amounts of iron oxide, which makes it appear like a bright red star in the sky today. In his view, Jupiter and Saturn shine in a distinctive way and are considered the guardians of the earth, as their great gravity attracts bodies and celestial stones that are heading toward our planet, making us relatively safe from collision.

Whenever weather conditions permit, Al-Jama'an said the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center will organize special days to monitor these planets. In addition to astronomical devices and equipment used to monitor and document astronomical phenomena, the Space Museum at the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah Center demonstrates scientific information about the planets of the solar system and space flights with the latest means.
