Kuwaiti Citizens Are Seeking To Enter Europe Without A Schengen Visa

27 April 2022 Kuwait

The European Commission is anticipated to make a statement announcing the initial acceptance of Kuwait's and Qatar's applications for waivers from the 'Schengen' visa requirement to enter Europe.

According to a local Arabic newspaper, the European Union Council must vote on the decision, accept it, and finish additional procedures.

According to the sources, the final decision for exemption requires unanimous approval of the 27 European Union countries, after which the stage will be set for direct negotiations between Kuwait and the European Union on the exemption agreement, indicating that simply announcing the exemption from Schengen does not mean that the decision will be implemented immediately, but rather than a series of procedures will be followed.

According to the sources, Kuwait's file is complete in all procedural and technical aspects, the most important of which is the electronic passport, which meets all of the requirements, as well as the fact that Kuwait has the support of the majority of European Union countries in this regard, noting that the expected implementation procedures for the exemption will take months, if not a year.
