Kuwait: Over 16,000 Travel Bans Imposed In Two Months

Recent data released by the Travel Ban Section of the Enforcement Department at the Ministry of Justice sheds light on travel ban trends during January and February of the current year. The figures reveal that a total of approximately 16,000 travel bans were enforced on both citizens and expatriates within this period. Furthermore, the report indicates the issuance of 8,033 orders to lift travel bans, alongside 917 requests for "one-time travel."

According to insights from Al-Qabas, January saw 6,642 travel ban orders, while February recorded a higher figure of 9,006. Similarly, orders to lift travel bans amounted to 6,642 in January and 3,811 in February.

Among Kuwait's governorates, Al-Ahmadi topped the list with 4,321 travel ban orders, trailed by Farwaniya with 3,641, and Hawalli with 2,452. Al-Jahra and the capital followed closely, while Mubarak Al-Kabeer registered the lowest number of travel ban orders at 1,096.

In the family court domain, procedures related to travel bans reached 1,211, with 620 instances in January and 591 in February. Additionally, 380 orders to lift travel bans were recorded during the same period.

Notably, the majority of travel bans were associated with various financial matters such as checks, banking issues, phone bills, installments, rentals, electricity payments, expenses, and family court disputes.
