Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al- Jarallah on Thursday spoke highly of Kuwait-Spain relations, expressing desire to take “the excellent ties” to a new height. Speaking to reporters at Embassy of Spain in Kuwait on the fringes of a celebration by to mark the National Day of Spain, Al-Jarallah said the official visit exchanges opened new horizons for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. The growing numbers of Kuwaiti nationals visiting Spain signal the people- to-people friendship, he said, lauding the hospitality and facilitation offered by the Spanish authorities to the Kuwaiti tourists.

Al-Jarallah recalled the supportive stance of Spain during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, voicing desire for greater cooperation. On Kuwait’s efforts at the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, he said the Kuwaiti mission maintains close coordination with all members of the Council, including Germany that got a non-permanent seat recently, with a view to activating the role of the Council.
For his part, Spain’s Ambassador Alvaro Rodriguez Alvarez said the friendly people-topeople and state-to-state relations between his country and Kuwait are driven by the special ties between both royal families.
