International Yoga Day Celebrated In Kuwait
Large number of people attends the International Day of Yoga celebration in Kuwait on Friday 24th June at Indian Embassy.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain welcomed the crowd. Number of Kuwaiti and other nationalities also participated in the Yoga Day celebration. Various Indian Associations such as ‘Art of Living’, ‘Sahaj Marg’, ‘Artistic Yoga’, ‘Harmony House’, ‘Seva Darshan’ and ‘AMMA’ Kuwait participated in the celebration.
The event started with presentation and demonstration of Yoga protocol released by the India Government. Volunteers from AOL, Seva Darshan and Amma Kuwait demonstrated various Yoga postures on the stage. Volunteers from Artistic Yoga and Pilates demonstrated the Artistic Yoga. More than 25 children from Bala Darshan performed Surya Namaskar on the stage. The Yoga demonstration and Martial Arts demonstrated by Seva Darshan volunteers attracted the crowd. Heartfulness group performed Meditation session.
The Yogic Dance by Latha and group was an added attraction. Harmony House held Rajyoga presentation while Amma Kuwait made a presentation on Integrated Amrita Meditation technique.
Indian Doctors forum and Indian Dental Alliance also took part in the Yoga Day celebrations. Dr Vinod Grover from IDF made a presentation on Stress Management. Dr Prathap from IDAK also made a presentation on Dental hygiene. Indian Dental Alliance volunteers also organised a free Dental check-up camp in the Embassy.
The Event was supported by Indian Business and Professional Council, L & T, Air India and Indiansinkuwait.com. The event, which was planned earlier at American International School ground, was later shifted to Embassy Auditorium due to local restrictions.
June 21 was declared the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on Dec 11, 2014 after a call by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he addressed the UN General Assembly on Sept 27, 2014. The call had the support of 177 countries, including the State of Kuwait.
