In June, 922 Expats Were Detained For Violating The Law
In a joint effort between the Public Authority for Manpower and the Residence Affairs Investigation, the Tripartite Committee successfully apprehended a total of 922 individuals involved in labor and residence law violations during the month of June. The committee conducted 24 targeted campaigns in various areas across Kuwait, with a focus on densely populated regions where marginal workers are prevalent. The operations specifically aimed at curbing unauthorized work and residency situations, resulting in significant achievements and the discovery of additional illicit activities. This article provides an overview of the committee's efforts, the areas of concentration, and the consequences faced by violators.
Throughout the month of June, the Tripartite Committee took decisive measures to address labor and residence law violations. By coordinating with the Residence Affairs Investigation, the committee conducted 24 targeted campaigns, with the primary objective of apprehending individuals who were employed by entities other than their sponsors. These unauthorized employment scenarios were discovered in diverse settings, including women's mobile home salons, hotels, transportation services, random markets, shops selling new and used tools, as well as establishments involved in iron manufacturing and foodstuff trade in Shuwaikh and other areas.
The committee concentrated its efforts on eight specific areas known for their high concentration of marginal workers. These areas included Farwaniya, Kabd, Umm Al-Hayman, Al-Dhahr, Shuwaikh, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Mahboula, and Khaitan. By targeting these regions, where labor and residency law violations are prevalent, the committee aimed to create a significant impact in reducing unauthorized employment practices and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
The Tripartite Committee's campaigns resulted in the arrest of 922 individuals involved in labor and residence law violations. Among those apprehended, a significant percentage comprised domestic workers who were working for employers other than their sponsors. These workers were subsequently transferred to the residence affairs investigation unit to initiate legal actions against their employers. Furthermore, the committee's operations also led to the identification and closure of five fraudulent recruitment offices, specializing in the recruitment of domestic workers. The individuals implicated in these illicit activities were referred to the appropriate authorities to face legal consequences.
