Hunt Continues For Kuwaiti Prisoner Who Fled From Central Jail
Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department continue the search for the Kuwaiti inmate who had escaped from the Central Prison a few days ago after he was taken to the Farwaniya Hospital for treatment, reports Al-Rai daily.
The inmate, who has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for assaulting an Egyptian with whom he had a close relationship and caused him permanent injury, was allegedly able to break the glass of the vehicle of the General Administration of Correctional Institutions during his transfer to the Farwaniya Hospital to receive the treatment after he requested his guard to remove the cuffs from his ankle after complaining of pain.
The inmate was reportedly sighted near a mosque in Jahra with his uncle and when police rushed to arrest him, his uncle reportedly helped him to escape.
The police controlled the uncle and called for a backup police force and combed the entire area but failed to find him. Meanwhile, the Al-Anba daily said the uncle of the inmate, who is believed to be in his 40s, who was allegedly injured when he helped his nephew to escape was taken to the Farwaniya Hospital and then to the Al-Jahra Police Station and then transferred to the Central Prison on the charge of enabling his nephew to escape for the second time.
A well-informed security source said the fugitive prisoner was expected to be arrested within hours, saying the noose is tightening around him.
