Health Minister Launches Electronic Campaign To Raise Awareness Of Autism
Head of the Information Office in the Ministry of Health Dr. Ghalia Al-Mutairi announced on Saturday the launching of an electronic campaign in the social media to raise awareness of Autism and to draw attention to this category of patients on the occasion of the World Autism Day observed on April 2 of every year.
Al-Mutairi said today that this campaign aims at raising awareness and culture about autistic people in order to integrate them into society as ordinary individuals.
She added that the percentage of Autism in Kuwait is 1.5 to 2 percent of every 100 chidren. It showed that World Autism Day sees participation of most of the world countries, pointing out that all UN bodies, international health organizations and civil institutions work hard to achieve the desired objectives by decorating the famous monuments and important buildings in blue in an attempt to draw attention to the issue of Autism and especially in the children category.
Al-Mutairi noted that the United Nations in this day stresses the importance of participation of autistic patients, a matter that would contribute to achieving greater equality between them and also helps in absorbing them by different communities.
