Govt To Merge Public Authority With Ministry
Director of Labor Department in the Public Authority for Manpower at Ahmadi Governorate Mohammad Al-Ansari affirmed that no cases of fraudulent companies or those striving to pass illegal transactions have been uncovered since he assumed the position of director in the department except for the arrest of two cleaners who used to take money for facilitating some services illegally, adding that legal actions were taken against them, reports Aljarida daily.
In an interview, Al-Ansari said, “The decisions and measures previously taken by the authority effectively helped in curbing fraud and illegal transactions”. He stressed that his doors are open to receiving observations or complaints against any employee, affirming that investigations will be carried out neutrally and transparently to verify any complaint or observation.
Al-Ansari insisted that allocating offices for investigators inside the labor department was a very important step as it effectively contributed in reducing the number of fraudulent transactions, and also enhanced the state commitment to fight corruption, because it deters fraudsters and makes the visa traders think twice about carrying out any illegal transactions. He explained, “According to the latest statistics, the department contains more than 20,000 files of companies operating in the private sector.
The number of registered manpower on those files is about 190,000 expatriates. They include company files which contain more than one commercial license with the number of manpower registered under them.” Government is all set to implement proposal on merging the Public Authority for Youth Affairs with the Ministry of Youth Affairs under the supervision of the Minister’s Technical Office, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The daily quoting Minister of Commerce and Industry, the State Minister for Youth Affairs Khalid Al-Roudhan added the purpose of merging the public authority for youth affairs with the ministry is to ensure the sector performs up to expectation, and that government has decided to take the step as recommended by State Audit Bureau and other relevant authorities based on National Assembly’s request to cut down the number of what they called ‘too many’ public authorities. He stressed the merger process will lead to a reduction in the rate of ‘salary scale demand’ and ease burden on budget to help the government concentrate on a single area for achievements.
He noted the ministry has referred the new organizational structure to Civil Service Commission for approval to validate the merger and fulfill the aspirations of Government and Parliament all together for the youth. He reiterated the proposed merger will be presented to the National Assembly for an appropriate bill, noting ‘excessive number of public authorities’ was among the pivots of grilling observed in the first parliamentary round.
