Four Expats Arrested For Violent Robberies In The Capital
MOI Investigation Department Foils Expatriate Robbery Gang
The Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Investigation Department successfully apprehended four expatriates involved in a series of robberies targeting fellow expatriates in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, Mirqab, East, and Salhiya.
Operation Launched Following Multiple Robberies
A security source reported that the Capital’s Investigation Department acted on confidential information regarding several robberies across various locations within the Capital Governorate. This led to the establishment of a task force, with detectives strategically deployed to anticipated crime hotspots.
Gang Arrested in the Act
During one of their ambush operations, officers witnessed an expatriate being violently robbed. The suspects were promptly apprehended, revealing they were also expatriates who employed physical force to commit their crimes. They forcibly restrained the victim, throwing him to the ground to steal his money and mobile phone.
Criminal Tactics and Patterns
The suspects, arrested after fierce resistance, admitted to targeting Asian expatriates and operating primarily during the weekends. They confessed to traveling from Mahboula to the city, believing that committing crimes far from home would lessen their chances of capture by security services.
According to their testimony, they executed these crimes after midnight, selecting victims with weaker builds. While one gang member physically restrained the victim, others stood guard to ensure the area remained secure.
Previous Criminal Activity
The gang admitted to committing seven such robberies in recent weeks. The Investigation Department organized a victim parade, during which several victims recognized the suspects. These four expatriates are now being referred to the Public Prosecution.
