Expat Cleared Of Kidnapping Charges In Custody Dispute
Recent rulings upheld a lower court's acquittal of an Arab expatriate who was accused of kidnapping his daughter and taking her to his home country. In this case, a sensitive family matter led to allegations of psychological and domestic violence, with the child being kept apart from her mother.
The attorney Jassem Al-Twaij represented the accused and successfully argued that kidnapping and domestic violence were not present in the case. He emphasized the client's good intentions, pointing out that the child was legally under the father's custody rather than the ex-wife's. He also cited the exceptional circumstances that forced his client to return to his home country, bringing his daughter with him, as he feared that the ex-wife might attempt to take the child away.
This verdict underscores the complexity of family-related cases and the need to carefully consider the circumstances surrounding them. In this case, the court concluded that the accused had not committed the alleged crimes.
