Employers Resorting To Alternate Worker Pool For Labor Due To Lockdown Areas
A large number of workers involved in delivery, maintenance, automobile companies and other sectors are secured in areas under lockdown such as Hawally, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Farwaniya, Khaitan and Mahboula. They are restricted to the area, and can’t leave without permits from the Government.
Kuwait launched the first phase of a five-phased plan to reopen the economy by allowing a food and business sectors to open for a limited time while a partial curfew is enforced in the country. To keep their businesses in operations, companies are hiring workers from an alternate market. As the majority of those are marginal workers, this increases the chances of a negative effect for business owners and market efficiency.
Many companies in the private sector are suffering from the anti-coronavirus health measures which included suspending all business operations in the country under a total curfew, which lead to a loss of revenue.
