Drug Use Among Kuwaiti Girls Rises

04 August 2022 Crime News

According to security sources, the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) receives about 120 drug users per week, a quarter of whom are girls, at a daily rate of between 10 and 15 people, which is higher during the weekends, as an indication of the suspicious spread of the drug scourge in the country. Those who use narcotics or intoxicating substances such as Larica, Shabu (crystal meth), hashish or liquors are referred to the court.

In response to the spread of drugs among users, DCGD has been making every effort to combat this destructive scourge. A number of major drug dealers have been seized and large quantities of drugs have been prevented from entering the country through the border, land and sea ports. Even if the abuser suffered a simple wound, the department does not receive him, as he could have injured himself in an attempt to accuse the Ministry of Interior of physically harming him.

An injured abuser is first treated in the hospital, then referred to the relevant authority by the department. Narcotic substances such as Larica, hashish, and chemical are widely used by girls.

Under security supervision, the department has complete records of drug users. According to their confirmation, most of the drug users who were released from the Central Prison relapsed due to the availability of drugs inside. Drug dealers operate their "dirty" operations of drug peddling inside the Central Prison. Communication with drug users and clients, placement of drugs in specific locations, and delivery of money are all done by them.

According to the sources, "We often wonder if narcotics are available inside correctional institutions, since it is their duty to protect inmates and prevent prohibited items from entering. Inmates are housed in these institutions in order to reform, not to destroy. It is people in the community who became good through rehabilitation and prevention of access to these drugs, as drugs are destructive to the community after they leave prison after completing their sentences or rather serving them.

All those who enter correctional institutions and smuggle contraband must be closely supervised and inspected; restaurant orders coming from outside must be examined, and stricter measures and advanced devices must be used to prevent their entry.
