Delivery Firm Wins Reparation
The Court of Appeals ordered a major company to pay KD 218,000 to a delivery company, as well as seven percent as legal interest, because it breached its contractual obligations. The legal counsel representing the delivery company Lawyer Muhammad Al-Sayegh filed a lawsuit on behalf of the company. During the court session, Lawyer Al-Sayegh explained that his client and the defendant had signed a contract that necessitated the defendant to provide 15 cars for 12 hours a day to deliver the orders of goods and products at a cost of KD 8,910 per month.
The defendant was obligated to pay at the end of each month for the duration of the contract, which was one year. He highlighted another contract as per which the defendant agreed to provide 30 cars for 12 hours a day to deliver orders for an amount of KD 17,820 per month for a year. Lawyer Al-Sayegh said his client fulfilled its contractual obligations throughout the term of the contract, but the defendant breached its obligations, did not pay the full amount agreed upon, and remained in debt of KD 248,000 for the two contracts.
He also submitted to the court a set of documents that confirm the defendant company had not paid the rest of the amount agreed upon in the two contracts. Lawyer Al-Sayegh requested for an expert to be assigned to calculate the remaining amounts due to the plaintiff company.
